Listening to Robert Scheinfeld’s Journey to the Infinite has sent me further down the Rabbit hole than ever before.  I am sure not a lot of people will be ready for Robert’s Truth. That’s Truth with a capital T which will challenge to the very core your beliefs about everything you would call reality .

Robert has been involved in the self help arena and the metaphysical ‘industry’ for many years.   In fact Roberts is yet another person that mentions Seth Speaks which I recently reviewed here as one of his early influences but it really does not have any connection with his current teachings.

For some time Robert worked with Tony Robbins,  a self help Guru with teachings based on NLP learnt directly from its co-founder Richard Bandler. Robert explains that he was frustrated by all the self help courses and instructors and spoke of the ‘Suntan Effect,’ where people can experience high states of inspiration and even profound paradigm shifts but the change, like a suntan, wears off in time. Robert was searching for something permanent and discovered Quantum Physics.

There Is NO Law Of Attraction

Many of the new age ideas such as the Law of Attraction claim to be based on the theories of quantum physics but are selective in their interpretation. Robert explored the full ramifications of the quantum physics idea that we are the creators of our own reality and reached the logical conclusion that even concepts like the Law of Attraction are by definition not real.  They are, as Robert would explain, just stories we create with a lot of truth (with a small caps t) in them but they miss the real Truth of our existence.

It’s All A Game

Robert’s conclusion is that you are playing the human game and that everything and everybody you experience is a holographic illusion created by your higher self to form the Amusement park you call reality. You are in fact a being of infinite power that created the human game in order to experience the exact opposite of who you really are.  So you play the game in a world of limitations where you feel relatively powerless and vulnerable.

I have used the term “you” as opposed to we because according to this theory YOU are creating everything including the text you are reading now.  Thus I believe I am writing this for others to read but there are no others so I am really writing it for myself or if I am really part of your hologram then you are the author.

This is where your mind will start to tie itself in knots and the advice of Robert is that you cannot resolve these questions mentally.  At the same time Robert is not advocating something like having faith in his ideas.  It is not necessary that you even fully believe them but if you follow his program using the tools he recommends for drilling through the human illusion (he uses a metaphor of drilling through cloud cover to reveal the sun light of your real self) then the Truth with a capital T will become apparent.

A philosophical riddle you may have encountered is “If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?”.  The answer according to Robert would simply be that there is no tree or forest unless you are there to create it.  Nothing is real.  We live in a holographic world of our own creation not unlike that depicted in the film ‘The Matrix’.   He actually uses a number of short clips from that movie and others like ‘The 13^th Floor’ in his course material.

Robert refers to others in the game as players but at the same time according to this theory there really are no others in the game.  Thus any others in the game are more like virtual players as you would encounter in a computer game.

Phases Of The Human Game

Robert defines two phases of the Human Game.   In phase 1 you are totally unaware of your true nature, living within the hologram that your greater self has created. In phase 2 you start to get a glimpse of your true nature and your unlimited power as you break through the “cloud cover” with the ultimate goal of regaining your power and reaching your natural state of absolute joy.  Robert also says that you are either fully in phase 1 or phase 2 of the games and once in phase 2 there is no going back nor can you lose ground.

You Can Do No Wrong – You Cannot Make Mistakes.

An aspect of Roberts’ teachings I find very challenging is the proposal that we are in fact totally powerless and that our greater self is fully in charge.  Thus we can do no wrong nor can we make mistakes.  Everything happens as directed by your greater self.

I have spent much of my life in a position of feeling powerless and then ‘discovering’ through various self-development programs and personal study that I do have power, only to be told now that I really don’t and should just live my life in a reactive mode experiencing whatever my greater self decides to manifest into my hologram.   Robert advocates having no goals or plans.  Just do whatever you feel like doing.  Any consequences are determined by how much cloud cover you have removed.

Suspending Judgment

In phase 2 a player learns to suspend all judgment.  There are no longer good and bad, desirable or undesirable – we just learn to appreciate everything for what it is – our creation.   While we might now perceive there are many things we would want to change when we regain our power Robert informs us that when we do reach this state of truly appreciating who and what we are we may not want to change much at all.  We will be able to equally appreciate the ‘bad’ things that happened to us as we do the good.

No Finger Clicking Magic

Robert does not claim that we will suddenly emerge with super powers able to manipulate the hologram at will.   The process of breaking through the cloud cover takes time, perhaps years and Robert suggests that this is by design.  He claims we will experience an increasing number of amazing and inexplicable occurrences and that things will just come to us such as money which he defines as merely an expression of appreciation.

My Feelings

As I said at the start, Robert’s teachings have pushed me further down the Rabbit hole than ever before but at this time I am not really sure how much of his ‘story’ I am buying.   It would be too easy to just dismiss all of it if it were only coming from Robert alone, but much of this is based on real scientific research and while Robert has added his story about there being a human game I think there is more truth to this than not.

The most challenging aspect for me is the idea that others do not exist.   The idea that my children whom I love with my very being are not real but just my own holographic like creations is disturbing to say the least. This is one aspect I really want to reject out of hand but I am just not sure.  How does one ultimately feel about their children if you believe they are not real?

What is then the purpose of life? Just to have new experiences in the theme park!  It seems a little pointless. What would my greater self want to achieve from playing such a game.   Is being in a constant state of absolute joy that boring?

I have long adopted a belief that we are here to learn and somehow evolve and I am very attached to that idea and this new story from Robert is just not as appealing.  Ultimately I don’t think anyone has the Truth and it is something that we must discover for ourselves.  Robert has given me a lot to think about on a deeper level than ever before.  The ideas of quantum physics and the story Robert has attached to it actually create more paradoxes than they provide answers.

I highly recommend Robert Scheinfeld’s ‘Journey to the Infinite’ to anyone interested in the topic and anyone that has read this far would qualify.  As I said I don’t yet know how much of his story I am buying but regardless of how you feel after reading this review I am sure you will find Journey to the infinite rewarding and enlightening.

The Law of Attraction seems like part pseudo religion and part pseudo science, yet I find it to be the best working model available to explain my experience of life.  There have been way too many serendipitous coincidences in my life. Far too many things line up too many times for there not to be an unseen power or force at play.

The Law of Attraction may or may not work exactly how it is popularly believed to work.  The process of Ask, Believe and Receive might not be 100% accurate, but I have no reason to believe otherwise at this time.

One aspect of this Law of Attraction ‘movement’ I am aware and cautious of are the zealots that have embraced it as a new religion and are trying to marry it into all their old beliefs. I remain a skeptic at heart and will not accept everything that is presented to me because it comes under the banner of the Law of Attraction.

For the time being I find the Law of Attraction the best working model available in the absence of any better explanation.

“Infinite Possibilities”  is a term that I came across during my exploration of quantum physics and it caught my imagination.  For me, the idea seems to have an exciting and magical quality with so many ramifications that the more you contemplate it, the more your perception of the world changes.

So when I saw an audio-book from Mike Dooley with the same name I was curious to find out what his take on the idea was.   My only knowledge of Mike was his appearance in the film The Secret.

I have listened to a lot of personal development and motivational material from many of the world’s most renowned speakers, including those featured on ‘The Secret’, and there is a similarity in the message of all.  Generally from each one I am able to gleam a new insight or deeper understanding on concepts I am already familiar with.

When I listened to Mike’s 12 hour audio program ‘Infinite Possibilities’ it blew my mind.   This was much more than just a few new insights and deeper understandings – it has helped me locate some important jigsaw pieces for the puzzle that is life and now everything has started to make a lot more sense.

There are many motivational and inspirational programs around but for me, Mike Dooley’s ‘Infinite Possibilities’ was enlightening and liberating.  It is one of my top recommendations of all time for anyone interested in Personal Development and gaining a better understanding on the meaning of life.

Mike runs a website he calls ‘The Adventurers Club’ with the idea being that life is an adventure that we all choose to undertake.  He also has a mailing list called ‘Notes From The Universe’ which sends you a brief email message each day.  These are not your typical motivational quotes and inspirational insights.  They are thought provoking and often humorous.

Eckhart Tolle is a spiritual teacher, public speaker and author of the #1 New York Times bestseller The Power of Now which has been translated into 33 languages.

This was my first encounter with the material of Eckhart Tolle and I had no idea what to expect. I had no background knowledge and therefore no preconceived ideas.

One has to be curious to watch through the first twenty minutes of this video as he intentionally employs long periods of awkward silence while introducing the concept of time being an illusion and an aspect of the world of form (the physical world). There is no past or future except as thought concept – there is just now.

Most people live only in the time bound state of consciousness trapped in the surface dimension of life and can never find happiness or a sense of fulfilment. Their minds are continually producing thoughts and most people have come to identify themselves as those thoughts made up of all their past experiences including both failings and achievements. This identity model gives the mind complete control over a person’s life condemning them to continual frustration.

Eckhart believes we are missing the real essence of who we are. He advocates moving out of a time bound state of consciousness in a Timeless dimension of consciousness which he describes as an awakening process. In doing so you find out that “who you are, at the most fundamental level, is deeper than any thought.”

This is achieved by quietening the judgemental mind and perceiving it as only a tool to enable one to interact in the world of form. You then move into as state of awareness of your physical being in the present moment accepting whatever reality presents itself in the world of form.

This does not mean accepting and surrendering to undesirable circumstances but rather the recognition of what is, as most of the time our minds resit and protests against what is. By accepting we gain the power to create in a world of infinite possibilities. “By accepting what is you become bigger than what is.”
